Dave Poulin is my favorite Flyer of all time. Its always a sad thing to see someone you respect and admire be shown the door.

It was also sad the browse the Leafs board here and read the Armchair geniuses claiming that Poulin is "clueless".

As much as I would love to see Dave Poulin come back to the orange and black, I hope he does whatever is in his best interests.

Wouldn't mind adding Poulin to the staff.

I never got to see him play, but my dad said he was possibly a better captain than Clarke.

I loved the 2-man down goal against the Nordiques. Classic!

I think it would be an excellent addition for the Flyers front office.

Gene Hart's call of the play was classic too.

Prob would say no to poulin. Resume doesn't seem that impressive. Would like to see holmer be a little more progressive than hiring an ex teammate. Has detroits staff been completely poached yet?

Poulin was a very smart hockey player. He did a good job at Notre Dame and is one if my favorite Flyers ever.

I'd be open to giving him a front office job, but I do have concerns about his time in Toronto. Getting the experience there is fine, but the Leafs were hardly a model franchise during Poulin's time there.

One playoff season in five with nearly unlimited resources as basically the number 2 or 3 guy in Hockey Ops isn't a great resume item.

I think it would be Hextall doing the hiring, not Holmgren.

Hexy I meant. Old habits die hard.

Just not crazy about hiring an ex leafs exec when their leadership has been called into question with good reason. Part of a regime that has neglected advanced stats which has yielded negative results on the ice

I've been wanting Poulin back in the organ-I-zation since the day they traded him. Get it done, Hexy!!

So that's the reason why they have missed the playoffs? They've neglected advanced stats? Where are you getting this information from?

I was there, it was unreal!

You could feel the crowd holding their breath as he went in on Gosselin, and then the joint just erupted!!

Got wonder how much influence he had when you consider Burke's ego and personality.

That's why I'd be open to it, not sure how much influence he wielded. I'd talk to him, but I'd be hesitant to just toss him a gig.

That staff, as a whole, made a lot of very questionable decisions, both during Burke's reign and after. It will be interesting too see what impact Dubas has. He's a stats guy, which at least means he's open to new ideas, but he's awfully green in terms of front office experience.

It's a bold move.

He did a pretty good job putting the Marlies together. It's tough putting a minor league team when you're drafting so poorly.

He took the Notre Dame program out of near oblivion. He did a good job as Marlies general manager. He did not run the draft or make the trades for the Leafs.

Love to add Poulin, but maybe in some other capacity. VP of something or other.

With a former player as GM, would prefer it if they had more of a non-hockey person as the assistant.

I'm just not going to sign up for it Bc hes a good guy. You can

But the leafs have stunk out loud for awhile now. It didn't improve when he got there. So there's that, which isnt much.

If you don't know then why make the statement? Whenever a new head guy comes in such as Shanahan, and there has been some bad years, change is inevitable.

What would you want the new assistant GM's background to be in? Nascar maybe?
